With our journey through the chakras, we now know that chakras are spinning wheels of light. We have seven main chakras that run along our spine, from the top of our head to the bottom of our spine.

Chakras can only be seen by using our Third Eye as they are energy centres and therefore we can’t see them with our physical eyes.

With journeying through the chakra system we learned that each chakra has its own colour and way in which it supports us energetically, emotionally and spiritually. When all chakras are open and vibrating healthy it energetically looks like a rainbow as it makes up all the colours of the rainbow.

Each chakra absorbs energy, cleanses it and releases it back into our environment.

When we are feeling down or depressed or we are surrounded by negative people our chakras are like shields that protect us against negative energy meaning our chakras have to work hard to ensure our energy stays clear and vibrating strong and in a healthy way.

When we are feeling negative or ill, this can be an indication that your chakra/s is/are blocked.

The root chakra is right at the tip of our tailbone and with it called the root chakra; it’s like using a tree with the roots of the tree creating the foundation and support that holds the rest of the tree solidly grounded. The root chakra is the foundation on which the remaining chakras rest.

With the root chakra being the energetic root it creates a sense of feeling grounded and feeling safe, strong, supported and happy within and in our environment.

When the root chakra is blocked, over or underactive we can feel:

  • Insecure within ourselves and our environment
  • Like you’re just floating through life with feeling disconnected from yourself and the world around you – ungrounded
  • You might experience nightmares or night terrors
  • Feeling restless
  • A lack of discipline
  • Aggressiveness
  • Having trouble determining boundaries
Physical symptoms that you might experience as a result of a blocked Root Chakra are:

  • Headaches
  • Feeling like you are lacking physical strength – fatigue/tiredness
  • Lower back pain
  • Weak legs
  • Lymphatic congestion
  • Constipation
  • Eating disorders
When in an energy healing session and I identify the root chakra as blocked, I find working with these crystals works well with healing, balancing and opening the root chakra:

  • Garnet
  • Labradorite
  • Black Tourmaline
  • Hematite
  • Bloodstone
Essential oils I find that works well with healing, balancing and opening the root chakra when making products like healing baths, bath salts and scrubs are:
  • Myrrh
  • Sandalwood
  • Cypress
  • Frankincense
  • Angelica Root
  • Vetiver
  • Ginger

You can also use these essential oils by adding drops of these oils to your bath or putting it in an air purifier and having the aroma of these oils infuse the area you’re in, which will create an environment of feeling grounded, stable and safe.

Here are a few of my favourite affirmations I use daily when connecting to my Root Chakra:

  • I am eternally safe, grounded and supported by the Universe
  • Everything always works out for my highest good
  • I am abundant
  • I am rooted and present in the now
  • I trust and accept that everything I want comes to me at exactly the right place and time.

Thanks for taking the time out to enjoy exploring and getting to know about the root chakra and how we can ensure that it stays open, healthy and vibrating strong.

Till next time, take care and stay blessed.

Love and blessings
